The local church, when it operates as God designed it, is a powerful help in “staying above the fray” of life.  Churches come in all sorts of “flavors,” differing in leadership style, worship style, vision, core Screen Shot 2015-04-25 at 10.04.07 AMvalues, etc.  Regardless of how they word it, the mission of every church should be the same.  My church, Istrouma Baptist, words it like this, “We glorify God by making disciples of all nations.”  Our focus is to glorify God, and we do that by making disciples locally and globally.  As time moves on, this blog will have many articles on discipleship.

If you are looking for the right church, make sure that at least 2 things are true about it:  (1) It is true to God’s Word, (2) You are able to connect with others there.  When those two things are in place, you are better equipped to see above life’s challenges and are better equipped to experience the “peace that surpasses all understanding” (Phil 4:7).
